Lots of animal friends and snacks have arrived on the picnic cloth, and children help in three ways. In "count", they find out how many bears or apples there are by tapping each one: every tap lights up the next number, and then they pick the matching number card. In "serve", a friend holds up a number sign and children put exactly that many strawberries on the plate. In "share", a bowl of cookies has to be shared between two or three friends so that everyone gets the same.
There are 6 levels of 5 puzzles each, and every puzzle is generated fresh. Level 1 only counts to 3 and later levels go up to 10. Sharing appears from level 3. From level 4 the number cards lose their helper dots and other things are mixed into the picture, so children count only the kind they were asked about. The plate is laid out in rows of five like a ten-frame, which helps children see 5 and 10 at a glance.
How to play
- Tap "Play!". The yellow button lets you pick level 1 to 6.
- Count: the card at the top asks something like "How many bears?". Tap the bears one at a time while the yellow circle counts along, then tap the matching number card. A wrong card is fine: everyone counts together slowly from 1, and then the right card glows.
- Serve: the friend's sign shows how many snacks it would like. Tap the basket to put one on the plate, tap the plate to take one back, and press "Here you go!" when you are ready. If there are too few or too many, the friend says "One more, please~" or "That's too many~" and the sign shows dots so children can match them one-to-one.
- Share: tap a friend's column to give that friend one snack from the bowl. Each plate shows how many it has. When the bowl is empty and everyone has the same, the puzzle is done. If not, the snacks go back to the bowl and the friend who should get the next one glows, so children can deal one each in turn.
- Finish 5 puzzles to collect 5 stars and unlock the next level.
Controls
- Phone / tablet: everything is a single tap. No dragging and no hurrying.
- Counting: tap the things on the picnic cloth and each one lights up 1, 2, 3…; then tap the matching number card.
- Serving: tap the basket to put one snack on the plate, tap the plate to take one back, then press the green "Here you go!".
- Sharing: tap a friend's column to give that friend one snack from the bowl.
- Keyboard: ← → move the frame, Space / Enter taps it. While counting, 1–9 and 0 (for 10) pick a number card. Esc returns to the title; on the title screen, 1–6 jump to a level.
For parents
- Made for ages 3–5, while levels 4–6 (counting to 10, distractors and fair sharing) still challenge 6–8 year olds. It practises the core of early maths: counting one-to-one, understanding that the last number counted tells you how many there are, recognising the numerals 1 to 10, making a set of a given size, and sharing fairly by dealing one each in turn. The ten-frame plate and the dots on the number cards help children see small groups such as 5 and 10 at a glance.
- There is no losing, no score and no timer. A wrong number card leads to counting together slowly, a wrong number of snacks just gets "One more, please~" or "That's too many~", and an unfair share is simply dealt again with a glow showing who should get the next snack. A small hint also appears if nothing happens for a while. There is no chat, no in-app purchases, no ads and no outbound links, and no name or personal information is ever asked for.
- Only the current level, finished levels and the sound setting are remembered, in this device's browser (the game still works if saving is blocked). Sound can be switched off with the speaker button, and the game also works offline.
